Great to meet you!

Hi! My name is Sherry (she/they), and it's lovely to virtually meet you! I am a born and raised New Yorker from Queens, and the child of South Asian immigrants. I am a licensed psychotherapist (LMHC), and earned my B.A. Psychology from Bard College, and my M.A. in Counseling in Mental Health and Wellness from NYU.

My approach to therapy

As a genderqueer, bisexual, and desi therapist, my lived experience at several intersections informs my approach and ethos. I work with queer, trans, neurodivergent, and BIPOC kids, teens, and young adults. Together, we explore the ways that intersectional identities shape their lives, and move beyond mainstream, Western narratives of mental health and well-being. I work through anti-carceral, abolitionist, and decolonial lenses which inform my personal life, values, and the work I do with my clients.

My work with kids and teens has a focus on exploring gender identity, sexuality, and neurodivergence, as well as helping parents navigate providing support and affirming their queer children.

What you can expect from me

Our first session is a time for us to get to know each other, and work collaboratively to carve out goals and objectives for our sessions together! It is meant to be a safe, warm, and curious space.
