Great to meet you!

I am a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with over 17 years of experience in nursing, beginning my career in 2007. As a 55-year-old African American female provider, I bring both clinical expertise and life experience into my practice, creating a compassionate and supportive space where patients feel heard, respected, and understood.

My approach to care is holistic and patient-centered, recognizing that mental health is influenced by emotional, physical, social, and cultural factors. I practice using a participatory and affirming style, partnering with my patients to develop treatment plans that align with their goals, values, and strengths. I believe in empowering individuals through education, collaboration, and encouragement.

While I strive to create a warm and supportive environment, I am also direct when needed, providing clear guidance and evidence-based treatment recommendations to support safety, stability, and long-term wellness.

My greatest strengths include empathy, active listening, cultural understanding, and a deep commitment to helping individuals improve their quality of life. I am passionate about supporting people on their journey toward healing, resilience, and mental well-being.

My approach to therapy

My approach to care is holistic, compassionate, and patient-centered. I work collaboratively with clients using a participatory style that encourages open communication and shared decision-making. I believe in affirming each individual’s experiences, strengths, and personal journey while creating a supportive and safe environment for healing. My goal is to empower clients through education, empathy, and evidence-based treatment. While I prioritize a collaborative approach, I am also direct when needed to provide clear guidance and support for safety, stability, and overall mental wellness.

What you can expect from me

During our first session, we will take time to get to know each other and discuss what brings you to care. I will ask questions about your current concerns, mental health history, medical background, lifestyle, and goals for treatment. This conversation helps me better understand your experiences and develop a treatment plan that fits your needs.

My approach is collaborative and supportive, so you can expect a safe, nonjudgmental space where you are encouraged to share openly. We may also discuss possible treatment options such as therapy approaches, coping strategies, or medication if appropriate. By the end of the session, we will work together to outline the next steps toward improving your mental health and overall well-being.
