Great to meet you!

My name is Sheyla Neira-Changa and I am the proud daughter of immigrant parents, and I carry with me a deep understanding of what it means to navigate big life changes. I was not born or raised in this country, and I am an immigrant myself — a part of the very journey my parents began. Because of this, I don’t just witness the challenges of cultural transition; I live them. Growing up between cultures taught me the importance of compassion, resilience, and listening deeply. These lessons have shaped who I am — not just as a mental health counselor, but also as a wife, a mother, and a human being. I am especially sensitive to the unique challenges that come with cultural identity, transition, and the weight of expectations — both spoken and unspoken. It’s from this place of empathy and lived experience that I hold space for others.

My approach to therapy

As an EMDR-trained therapist, I am skilled in helping individuals heal from trauma, reduce anxiety, and navigate life’s challenges. My approach is solution-focused, ensuring that therapy is both practical and tailored to meet the specific needs and goals of my clients.

What you can expect from me

By combining my cultural competence with a holistic, individualized approach, I empower adolescents and young adults to build emotional resilience, develop coping skills, and thrive during key developmental stages. I also work with families to strengthen communication, improve understanding, and foster healthier, more supportive relationships.
