Great to meet you!

Hello, I’m Shimika Daniels Turner, MA, LPC-S, a Licensed Professional Counselor-Supervisor with over a decade of experience supporting individuals, couples, and families through life’s most challenging seasons. I specialize in helping clients navigate anxiety, depression, relationship and family conflict, and major life transitions—particularly during young adulthood and periods of personal growth.

My passion for counseling was shaped early in life as I watched my grandmother navigate the daily realities of mental illness. That experience deeply impacted me, cultivating both compassion and a genuine desire to create safe spaces where people feel seen, heard, and supported.

I believe healing is possible for everyone. My goal is to help clients move beyond simply surviving and toward living lives that feel peaceful, purposeful, and fulfilling. Through a warm, collaborative, and nonjudgmental approach, I strive to empower each person to better understand themselves, strengthen their relationships, and embrace the growth and healing they deserve.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is collaborative, compassionate, and rooted in the belief that you are not broken—you are human, deserving of care, understanding, and support. I strive to create a safe, nonjudgmental space where you can show up authentically and feel empowered to explore your experiences at your own pace.

I meet clients where they are and walk alongside them through the healing process, using evidence-based and culturally responsive approaches tailored to their unique needs and life experiences. Drawing from modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness practices, and trauma-informed care, I help clients develop insight, build resilience, strengthen coping skills, and move toward meaningful, lasting growth.

What you can expect from me

I understand that reaching out for help can feel vulnerable, and you deserve a space where you feel genuinely seen, heard, and valued. At the heart of my practice is authentic connection, compassion, and a deep commitment to creating an environment where healing feels safe and attainable.

I believe therapy is not about “fixing” you—it is a meaningful journey of self-discovery, healing, and growth. With compassion, purpose, and lived experience, I walk alongside my clients as they navigate life’s challenges, helping them cultivate greater peace, resilience, confidence, and emotional wellness. My hope is that through our work together, you feel empowered to embrace the life you deserve with clarity, strength, and hope.
