Great to meet you!

Hi, I'm Shirrita! My expertise is helping teens and adults navigate life stressors and mental health concerns, like anxiety, depression, self-esteem, transitions, and trauma/PTSD. I am here to help you overcome your struggles and assist you in building coping skills, processing difficult experiences, and reconnecting with your strengths. Starting therapy can feel both exciting and nerve-wracking, and that's completely normal. Let's get to know each other and begin building a foundation to your therapeutic journey!

My approach to therapy

My therapeutic approach is rooted in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Supportive Therapy techniques. I believe that our thoughts, emotions, and behaviors are deeply connected, and that by learning to identify unhelpful thought patterns, we can create meaningful changes in how we feel and respond to life's challenges.

Together, we explore the thoughts and beliefs that may be contributing to emotional distress and work toward building healthier perspectives and coping strategies.

I also incorporate supportive therapy, which focuses on creating a safe, nonjudgmental environment where you can openly process your experiences, emotions, and concerns. My goal is to help you feel heard, understood, and supported while building on your existing strengths and resilience.

What you can expect from me

During our first appointment, we'll discuss what brought you to therapy, the challenges you're currently facing, and what you hope to gain from the counseling process. I'll ask questions about your personal history, relationships, mental health, and other important areas of your life to gain a better understanding of your unique experiences and needs.

There is no pressure to share everything at once. We will move at a pace that feels comfortable for you!
