Great to meet you!

Hi, I’m Shruthi Nair, a South Asian American therapist and the founder of Bold Brown Therapy. I specialize in supporting South Asian and BIPOC individuals navigating anxiety, depression, cultural identity, intergenerational trauma, body image concerns, chronic illness, and life transitions. My approach integrates CBT, DBT, and IFS while creating a culturally affirming and compassionate space where clients feel seen and understood. I earned my master’s degree in counseling from the University of Pennsylvania and have a background in neuropsychology and mental health counseling. Through therapy, I aim to help clients build healthier relationships with themselves while balancing cultural expectations, family dynamics, and personal growth.

My approach to therapy

My therapeutic style is warm, collaborative, and culturally affirming. I work with clients from a trauma-informed and insight-oriented lens while integrating evidence-based approaches such as CBT, DBT, IFS, and EMDR to help individuals better understand their emotions, thought patterns, and relationships. As a South Asian therapist and founder of Bold Brown Therapy, I specialize in supporting South Asian and BIPOC individuals navigating anxiety, depression, intergenerational trauma, people-pleasing, body image concerns, chronic illness, identity exploration, and life transitions. I also understand the complexities of immigrant family dynamics, cultural expectations, and balancing personal needs with familial responsibilities. My goal is to create a space where clients feel safe, understood, and empowered to build healthier boundaries, stronger self-worth, and more fulfilling lives.

What you can expect from me

Clients can expect a warm, supportive, and nonjudgmental environment where they feel safe to openly share their experiences at their own pace. During the first session, we will explore what brings you to therapy, your personal and cultural background, current stressors, and the goals you hope to work toward. I also take time to understand important factors such as family dynamics, relationships, identity, emotional patterns, and any past experiences that may be impacting your present well-being. As the founder of Bold Brown Therapy, I strive to create a culturally affirming space where South Asian and BIPOC clients feel understood without needing to explain or justify their experiences. Together, we will begin building a personalized treatment plan using approaches such as CBT, DBT, IFS, and EMDR to support healing, self-awareness, emotional regulation, and healthier relationships with yourself and others.
