Great to meet you!

Hi, I'm Shruti! I'm a Licensed Mental Health Counselor with 15 years of experience helping people navigate life's hardest moments — I specialize in trauma, grief, and loss.

I received my master's in Counseling Psychology from Northeastern University and have worked extensively with college students in crisis, in general counseling environments, and as a school psychologist and counselor at the International School of Curaçao. I'm also a Board Certified Coach, recently trained in EMDR, and a Basic Instructor for the William Glasser Institute.

My approach draws heavily on Dr. William Glasser's Choice Theory — the idea that while we can't control others, we do have a say in our own choices, and that lasting change comes from meeting five core needs: survival, love and belonging, power, freedom, and fun. I find this framework genuinely empowering, especially for clients who feel like circumstances outside their control are running the show. It's not about pretending everything's fine — it's about recognizing the choices that are still yours to make.

I bring a warm, practical style to sessions and want you to leave feeling like you have real tools, not just a space to vent (though that's welcome too). Whether you're working through grief, processing trauma, or just trying to figure out what's next, I'd love to help.

My approach to therapy

My approach is grounded in Dr. William Glasser's Choice Theory: while we can't control others or our circumstances, we do have a say in our own choices, and lasting change comes from meeting five core needs — survival, love and belonging, power, freedom, and fun. I'm a Basic Instructor for the William Glasser Institute and also trained in EMDR, which I draw on for trauma work specifically.

I want clients to leave sessions with more than just a space to talk — with real clarity on what's in their control and practical ways to act on it, delivered with warmth and without judgment.

What you can expect from me

The first session is a welcoming, conversation-focused space where you can begin to share your story at your own pace. Rather than focusing heavily on paperwork, I prioritize getting to know you—what brings you in, what you’re hoping for, and what feels most important right now. Together, we’ll start identifying your goals and exploring what’s working and what’s not, while building a sense of comfort, trust, and collaboration from the very beginning.
