Great to meet you!

Hi, I see individuals from age 5 years up. I specialize in working with clients who have been challenged with anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma, and severe or advanced mental illness. Roy T. Bennett wrote, "change begins at the end of your comfort zone." These words speak reality in the mental health world. I feel my mission in mental health counseling is to help my client transition through change and help create a new comfort zone to live their best life. My professional training includes the use of behavioral therapies such as EMDR/trauma focus, CBT, and ACT. I am a certified ADHD Clinical Services Provider for children, adolescents, and adults. My client is the center focus in talk therapy. Please call my office at 701.751.1789 if you would like more information.

My approach to therapy

I specialize with clients who struggle with low self-esteem and finding their direction in life such as those who have entered the fostering systems. I have used Informed Art Therapy as a tool, combining with Narrative Therapy or other modalities, to empower my client and to find their own true voice and or authentic self. I work with clients to overcome fear, worry, and stress. Personal skills building is offered and taught to conform to client needs and expectations. We can work together to rewrite your story to live a happier and healthy life.

What you can expect from me

The first session is normally an introduction and becoming acquainted with my clients. Understanding client's expectations and needs of services are essential to treatment. To achieve rapport, it is important to gain knowledge of my clients by listening to their concerns associated with biological, psychological and social experiences. I will complete a thorough mental health assessment, which includes aspects of history and current concerns. I will help or ask you to fill out personal information on basic questionnaires to use in my assessment process. These can be filled out prior to the first meeting as I will send them via email 24 hours in advance. All your information is kept confidential and will only be shared with others by your approval. Informed consent is a part of confidentiality. That means I will not share what you say in any session unless you tell me you want to harm yourself or others and or if you mention abuse toward children or vulnerable adults. Since I am declared a mandated reporter in the state of North Dakota I would have to let the appropriate person or agency know of the harm to help keep people safe.
