Great to meet you!

Hi, I’m Sofia. Embarking on a journey towards better mental health is courageous, vulnerable and a universal part of the human experience. When we are struggling, the narrative can so easily become a continuous feedback loop of fear, uncertainty, hopelessness etc. When we feel so stuck or trapped by unresolved hurts and woundedness, the day to day can feel so lonely and debilitating.

And, these concerns do not make you a failure or personally flawed. These concerns remind us we are human.

As a telehealth therapist, I work to cultivate a courageous space for you to feel seen, heard, encouraged, and even challenged. Despite our distance, my approach to therapy emphasizes a strong therapeutic alliance, with you feeling as the expert of your experience. Unconditional positive regard, non-judgmental presence, authenticity, genuineness and transparency support an attuned and effective therapeutic relationship.

My approach to therapy

I draw upon my training as a systems trained based therapist; with attachment theory and an IFS-informed lens. With this integrative approach, exploration and common areas explored relate to relational patterns, interaction cycles that could be based on the individual and/or relational level; as well as emotion and somatic/body-based approaches. In addition, an additional specialty training of play therapy is also integrated, as in my experience so many of us have lost (or more aptly), have struggled to access play, which is a public health necessity.

Areas of expertise include: family/relational/systems, depression, anxiety, multicultural/diversity, social justice, stress, life transitions, parenting (including Mother-centered topics/support), and Play Therapy, to name a few.

What you can expect from me

My approach to therapy is person-centered, existential and transpersonal, recognizing you as the ultimate expert; while offering skills and interventions that support an integrated and embodied Self.

I’m here alongside you every step of the way, as you’re ready to embark on this journey together.
