Great to meet you!

With a Master's Degree from Grand Canyon University Sonya is an Open‐minded Licensed Mental Health Therapist and Substance use counselor who approaches each client with curiosity, respect, and a deep belief in their capacity for growth. Her work is rooted in a holistic understanding of well‐being—honoring the connection between mind, body, relationships, and lived experience.

Clients describe Sonya’s style as both creative and direct. She brings fresh perspectives and innovative therapeutic strategies while offering clear, honest guidance that supports meaningful change. Her sessions often blend reflective exploration with practical tools, helping clients move from insight to action.

Sonya is known for offering a challenging yet deeply affirming therapeutic space. She gently pushes clients to confront patterns that no longer serve them while consistently reinforcing their strengths, resilience, and inherent worth. Her goal is to help individuals feel seen, empowered, and capable of creating the life they envision.

Whether someone is navigating anxiety, life transitions, identity exploration, or emotionally overwhelm, Sonya provides a grounded, compassionate presence and a collaborative path forward.

My approach to therapy

Sonya’s work is rooted in open honesty and the belief that every person has the capacity to change when they approach the process with intention and self‐alignment. She views transformation as something that becomes possible when individuals learn to work with themselves rather than against their own emotions, patterns, or lived experiences.

Her approach emphasizes helping clients recognize their internal strengths and develop practical skills that support the changes they seek. Sonya encourages consistent practice of newly gained tools, understanding that growth is not a single moment but an ongoing commitment to oneself. She collaborates with clients to build insight, strengthen self‐trust, and create space for meaningful, sustainable shifts.

At the heart of her philosophy is a simple but powerful truth: with the right mindset, honest self‐reflection, and steady practice, people can move toward the life they envision.

What you can expect from me

In our first session, my goal is to create a space where you feel safe, respected, and genuinely heard. We’ll spend time getting to know what brings you in, what you’ve been carrying, and what you hope will be different moving forward. I’ll ask open and honest questions—not to judge, but to understand you fully so we can begin building a plan that actually supports the changes you want to make.

This session is also a chance for you to get a sense of how I work and to decide whether this feels like the right fit for you. Together, we’ll explore your strengths, your challenges, and the goals that matter most to you. By the end of our time, we’ll have a clearer direction and the beginnings of a treatment plan that we’ll continue shaping as we go.

My approach is collaborative, direct, and affirming. You don’t have to have everything figured out today—just show up as you are. We’ll take it one step at a time, and we’ll do it together.
