Great to meet you!

My name is Sophia Verella, and I am a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner dedicated to providing compassionate, evidence-based mental health care.

With a background as a registered nurse in inpatient psychiatric settings, I have extensive experience working with individuals across the lifespan who are navigating a wide range of mental health conditions. My clinical foundation has allowed me to develop a deep understanding of both acute and chronic psychiatric needs, as well as the importance of individualized, patient-centered care.

I earned my Master of Science in Nursing from Molloy University, where I specialized in psychiatric mental health. My training has equipped me to assess, diagnose, and treat mental health conditions using a combination of medication management, supportive therapy, and collaborative care planning.

My approach to therapy

I provide evaluation and treatment for a variety of mental health concerns, including:

  • Anxiety disorders
  • Depression and mood disorders
  • Bipolar disorder
  • ADHD
  • Trauma-related conditions

My approach is holistic and collaborative. I work closely with each client to create a treatment plan that aligns with their goals, values, and lifestyle. I believe in creating a safe, nonjudgmental space where clients feel heard, respected, and empowered in their mental health journey.

Whether you are seeking support for the first time or continuing your care, I am here to help guide you toward improved well-being and stability.

What you can expect from me

Starting mental health care can feel like a big step, and my goal is to make your first visit as comfortable, supportive, and informative as possible.

During our initial session, we will spend time getting to know you as a whole person—not just your symptoms. I will ask about your current concerns, mental health history, medical background, lifestyle, and any previous treatments. This comprehensive assessment helps me better understand your unique needs and begin forming an accurate diagnosis.

Goals of the First Session

By the end of our first appointment, you can expect:

• A thorough psychiatric evaluation

• An opportunity to openly discuss your concerns in a safe, nonjudgmental space

• Initial clinical impressions and, when appropriate, a working diagnosis

• A personalized treatment plan tailored to your goals

• Discussion of treatment options, which may include medication, therapy, or both

• Time to ask questions and feel informed about next steps

My Approach & Environment

I strive to create a warm, respectful, and collaborative environment where you feel heard and supported. My approach is patient-centered, meaning your voice and preferences are an essential part of your care. I value transparency, cultural sensitivity, and building trust at your pace.

You will never be rushed or judged. Instead, you can expect thoughtful listening, clear communication, and a partnership focused on helping you achieve stability, clarity, and improved quality of life.

Taking the first step toward mental wellness is important, and I am here to support you every step of the way.
