Great to meet you!

My name is Spencer Allan, MSN, APRN, PMHNP, and I am a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with over 10 years of experience working in mental health care. Throughout my career, I have worked with individuals facing a wide range of mental health concerns across various levels of care, giving me a strong foundation in understanding the complexities of psychiatric illness and recovery.

I work with adolescents, adults, and older adults experiencing challenges such as depression, anxiety, ADHD, bipolar disorder, borderline personality disorder, psychotic disorders, and other mental health concerns. I also have a strong interest in functional health and the relationship between mental health, sleep, hormones, physical health, nutrition, and overall wellness.

I believe mental health treatment should focus on the whole person, not just a diagnosis. My goal is to help clients better understand what is contributing to their symptoms while developing a treatment plan that supports both symptom improvement and long-term well-being.

My approach to therapy

My approach is collaborative, evidence-based, and individualized. I recognize that no two people are the same, and effective treatment requires understanding each client's unique experiences, strengths, goals, and circumstances.

While medication can be an important part of treatment, I believe the best outcomes occur when mental health is approached from multiple angles. I consider factors such as sleep, physical health, stress, relationships, lifestyle habits, and other biological influences that may impact emotional well-being.

Although I primarily provide psychiatric medication management, I often incorporate therapeutic techniques, education, and practical coping strategies into appointments. For clients seeking more in-depth psychotherapy, I encourage working with a therapist who specializes in the type of therapy that best fits their needs. I frequently collaborate with therapists and other healthcare providers to help ensure comprehensive care.

What you can expect from me

During our first appointment, my goal is to gain a thorough understanding of who you are, what challenges you are experiencing, and what you hope to accomplish through treatment. We will discuss your current symptoms, psychiatric history, medical history, previous treatment experiences, and any other factors that may be affecting your mental health.

I strive to create an environment where clients feel comfortable asking questions and actively participating in treatment decisions. Together, we will explore potential diagnoses, review treatment options, and develop a plan tailored to your individual needs and goals.

My hope is that clients leave their first session feeling heard, understood, and more confident about the path forward.
