Great to meet you!

Hi there—I'm Dr. Stacee Reicherzer (she/her), a transgender therapist specializing in trauma, anxiety, OCD, and identity development for LGBTQ+ adults and the people who love us.

Many of my clients are navigating painful histories that show up as intrusive thoughts, panic, compulsive behaviors, or emotional numbness. Some are struggling with obsessive fears and mental rituals that make daily life feel exhausting. Whether you're dealing with trauma-based anxiety, obsessive-compulsive cycles, or a mix of both, you’re not alone—and you don’t have to navigate this alone.

My approach is warm, affirming, and trauma-informed. I integrate EMDR with ERP (Exposure and Response Prevention) and other evidence-based strategies to support clients dealing with OCD, complex PTSD, and chronic shame. Sessions are collaborative and attuned—you’ll never feel rushed or reduced to a diagnosis.

I specialize in working with queer and trans adults, survivors of complex trauma (including medical trauma), and individuals navigating anxiety tied to identity, safety, and belonging. My work with OCD includes contamination fears, intrusive harm or sexual thoughts, religious scrupulosity, and perfectionism—often themes deeply rooted in early experiences of fear or control.

I hold a PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision, am EMDR-Certified, and have served the LGBTQ+ community for over two decades. I'm licensed in both Texas and Illinois and offer virtual sessions to clients across both states. If you're ready for real healing—not just coping—I’d be honored to support your journey.

My approach to therapy

You'll find me to be a therapist who uses real talk and queer humor—someone who will show up honestly and name the beliefs or behaviors I see that may be working against your goals. We won’t just sit and talk about symptoms; we’ll work together to change them.

My primary modality is EMDR, a powerful, evidence-based therapy I’ve used for 18 years to help clients heal the deeper roots of anxiety, trauma, and self-sabotaging cycles. I also integrate Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) to treat OCD, especially when intrusive thoughts and compulsive behaviors are linked to earlier attachment wounds or trauma.

Issues I often treat include:

  • Family trauma—especially for those of us whose families were our first bullies;
  • OCD and anxiety-related perfectionism;
  • Spiritual trauma, especially from shame-based religious systems;
  • Abusive or exploitative adult relationships that have left behind emotional landmines.

Our work will be collaborative, trauma-informed, and adapted to your pace. Whether you’re struggling with high anxiety, persistent guilt, or obsessive thoughts you feel ashamed to share, I hold a space that’s both affirming and change-focused.

What you can expect from me

We get to work quickly! I’ll listen, I’ll assess, and right from the jump we’ll begin shaping a plan based on what you want your life to look like—calmer, more grounded, less reactive, and more fully you.

In that first session, we might begin identifying:

  • How old trauma—abandonment, humiliation, or identity invalidation—still lives in the body;
  • The thoughts, behaviors, or compulsions that are hijacking your peace;
  • The specific goals you have for feeling more connected, more joyful, and more in control.

We’ll talk about what modalities (like EMDR or ERP) might support that vision. You’ll leave with a clear understanding of how I work and how we’ll collaborate. My job is to hold space for your healing—but also to help move it forward.
