Great to meet you!

Have you spent years trying to meet someone's expectations, avoiding conflict, or striving for perfection just to feel worthy? Many of us struggle with not-enoughness. Early childhood experiences, family dynamics, high pressure environments, and past relationships can all contribute to the belief that you must earn love, safety, or acceptance. When your nervous system has learned to stay on alert trying to please, perform, or stay in control it makes sense that self-doubt and anxiety would follow. Those patterns you learned can be unlearned and self-acceptance can be cultivated through getting curious about your inner world. My focus is treating anxiety disorders, complex PTSD, and adjustment disorder. If you are searching for a therapist who has a lot of education, training and patience, a half a century of life experiences, is a fan of Grace and Frankie, hikes and loves dogs, then you have found her.

My approach to therapy

I believe the goal of therapy is to gain greater clarity, agency, and emotional stability. My approach is collaborative and sensitive but also empowering. I focus on creating a supportive space where you can show up exactly as you are.

I specialize in integrating parts work & EMDR with emotional freedom technique for optimal emotional regulation. For many, cognitive behavioral therapy works well, but some clients benefit more from a combination of cognitive and somatic work. More often, clients simply need a little support through difficult seasons of life or big decisions. Whatever the need, our work together is grounded in connection and in the "here and now".

I also believe that the therapeutic relationship needs to involve interpersonal communication as well as interventions. This approach allows for real time assessment of how we are experiencing each other, which can help clients better understand how they show up in relationships.

What you can expect from me

In our first session my goal is to make you feel as safe and comfortable as possible. I will gather information in order to develop a short-term plan for care, which will act as a starting point for us to begin. Our first meeting typically focuses on your "why" for entering therapy, your expectations of me and the process, and your readiness for change. I encourage clients to share what has worked in the past, what isn't working now, and where they would like to see personal changes.
