Great to meet you!

My name is Stefanie Lowy, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in the state of Colorado. I earned my undergraduate degree from Indiana University in Bloomington, where I majored in Human Development and Family Studies and minored in Psychology. After graduating, I spent two years working as a preschool teacher, which deepened my passion for supporting children and families.

I went on to receive my Master of Social Work from Erikson Institute in Chicago, where I further developed my clinical skills and commitment to working with young people. I am currently a high school social worker in Denver, and I truly love the work I do with adolescents.

I have experience working with clients ranging in age from 3 to 30, and I value the diversity each individual brings to the therapeutic process. I am passionate about creating a supportive, empathetic space where clients feel understood, empowered, and able to grow.

My approach to therapy

I approach my work with clients from a place of warmth, empathy, and genuine acceptance. I strive to create a safe, supportive, and accepting environment where individuals feel comfortable exploring their thoughts and experiences without judgment.

My therapeutic style is rooted in a psychodynamic perspective, while also being strengths-based and collaborative. I aim to help clients gain insight into how unconscious processes, early life experiences, and interpersonal relationships influence their emotions, behaviors, and sense of self. Throughout our work together, I focus on building awareness, fostering resilience, and empowering clients to create meaningful and lasting change.

What you can expect from me

In our first session, you can expect a warm, welcoming, and nonjudgmental space where we begin getting to know one another. I understand that starting therapy can feel both exciting and a bit intimidating, so we will move at a pace that feels comfortable for you.

During this initial meeting, I will ask questions to learn more about your background, current concerns, and what has brought you to therapy. This is also an opportunity for you to share as much, or as little, as you feel ready to. We will begin to explore your goals and what you hope to gain from our work together.

You can also expect me to be collaborative and attentive, helping you feel heard and understood. I may gently begin to notice patterns or themes related to your experiences, relationships, and emotions, while always centering your strengths.

Most importantly, our first session is about building a foundation of trust and creating a space where you feel supported as we begin this process together.
