Great to meet you!

I’m Dr. Steffanie Grossman, a Licensed Psychologist and Certified Eating Disorders Specialist–Consultant. I provide in-person and virtual therapy for teens and adults, through talk therapy and brain spotting sessions. I specialize in working with eating disorders, disordered eating, body image, self-esteem, LGBTQ+ concerns, gender identity, and sexual identity. My own experience with the benefits of therapy deepened my commitment to creating safe, affirming spaces where people can heal. I would be honored to help you empower yourself to live more authentically and intentionally, and to support you as you build self-compassion and a life that feels peaceful and genuinely your own.

My approach to therapy

My approach is collaborative, strengths-based, and compassionate, is informed by interpersonal, cognitive-behavioral, and acceptance and commitment therapy orientations. I frequently bring themes of empowerment and self-compassion into sessions. Together, we’ll explore how past experiences, trauma, social messages, and relationship patterns may have shaped the way you see yourself, then develop practical strategies that help you challenge shame, strengthen assertiveness, improve relationships, and feel more confident in your choices. I believe problematic behaviors often began as ways to cope or survive; therapy is a chance to honor what helped you get here while creating new ways to thrive.

What you can expect from me

Your first session is a chance to begin to know that the therapy space is your space—not a test in which you need the right answers, and not a demand to tell your entire story all at once and, rather, to bring me into your journey at your own pace. We’ll talk about what brings you in, what feels most urgent, and what you hope could be different. I’ll listen for the strengths, identities, relationships, and experiences that matter to you, answer your questions, and begin shaping goals together. You can expect a warm, authentic conversation focused on helping you feel understood and giving us a clear, manageable place to begin.
