Great to meet you!

Hi, I’m Dr. Gillom, though most of my clients call me “Dr. G” and I look forward to working with you to address the concerns that may be causing pain or distress, or to support growth in areas that matter most to you. I take a collaborative, client-centered approach and tailor our work to meet your unique needs and goals. I have extensive experience supporting clients navigating past trauma, anxiety, grief and loss, identity development, concerns related to race and sexuality and much more.

My approach to therapy

I am trained to work with individuals, couples and families, using a systemic lens that considers how broader relational and environmental contexts shape individual experiences. My goal is to create a space that reduces blame and deepens mutual understanding. My approach to therapy is collaborative and tailored to each client’s unique experiences and goals. I draw from evidence-based approaches such as motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), trauma-informed care, and aspects of EMDR while also paying close attention to relational patterns, identity development, reasonable solutions, and the ways past experiences shape present-day responses developmentally. I aim to help clients deepen their understanding of themselves, build practical tools for managing distress, and strengthen their sense of agency and self-efficacy. Above all, I strive to create a thoughtful, supportive space where clients can explore difficult experiences while moving toward meaningful and sustainable change.

What you can expect from me

Clients can expect the first session to be a collaborative and thoughtful conversation focused on understanding what has brought them to therapy and what they hope to change or explore. I take time to learn about your story, relationships, and the patterns that may be shaping your current experiences, while also helping you feel comfortable and grounded in the process. My approach is warm, direct, and reflective, and I aim to create a space where you feel heard and not judged. We will also talk about your goals for therapy and begin identifying ways our work together can support growth, healing, and greater clarity.
