Stephanie Banks is a Licensed Professional Counselor based in Slidell, La I work with adolescents, young adults, and adults. I also work with individuals with substance dependence, I have worked with adolescents transitioning out of the foster care, homeless individuals, Veterans, incarcerated individuals exposed to trauma, abuse and addiction in Georgia and Louisiana. I have a MS in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and BA in Social Science from Tulane University,
I understand how managing and maintaining healthy emotional responses help clients reach their goals. I employ an emotion focused therapeutic perspective along with Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Solution Focused therapy, Motivational Enhancement therapy, and trauma informed approaches such as EMDR, and Faith-based counseling. I believe expressions of underlying vulnerable emotions are central in changing interpersonal and intrapersonal interactions and re-establishing healthy attachments.
I work as your coach, uplifting and motivating you to work on positive recovery capital such as hope, resilience, trust, and self-efficacy. When you first come in my office, the environment is warm and accepting without judgment. Empathy and unconditional positive regard are the essential techniques of supporting you to feel comfortable and hopeful.
