Great to meet you!

Clients should know that I have a genuine compassion to help others struggling with life circumstances. My counseling style is authentic with attention paid to client's individual needs. I prefer to use client directed approaches and techniques. The approaches that I tend to use most are Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to address any distorted thought processes, Solution Focused Therapy to address the immediate issues, and Story Informed Trauma which fucuses on unresolved trauma from the past. I am always open to new ideas and strategies and have utilized unconventional techniques such as drumming, pets, and currently getting trained in ocean therapy. It has been my experience that sometimes clients may need more physical applications to relate to their current situations or healing from past experiences. I also appreciate the fact that clients can now receive services from the comfort and safety of their own homes. This gives even those who have been hesitant in the past to seek therapy an opportunity to make positive changes to their lives.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is client led which is where I as your therapist always have a plan for our therapeutic journey together, but will let you explore unchartered territory if an opportunity presents itself during sessions. The most important piece of therapy is for you as my client feel as though you have a connection with me, Building the therapeutic relationship does take time like any other relationship in your life. In my experience it typically takes between 4-6 sessions in order for rapport to be established. So I always encourage clients to commit to this many sessions before deciding if you and your therapist are compatible partners.

What you can expect from me

In an initial session with me clients can expect me to share some information about myself and my therapeutic journey. I have found that extending this vulnerability is usually effective in giving clients the courage to share their own vulnerabilities in a professional setting. From this point more unconditional positive regard can be established that sets the tone for true healing can take place.
