Great to meet you!

I am Stephanie Cepeda, and I am a current Licensed Professional Counselor and an active counselor on Headway. I received my bachelor's degree from The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley in rehabilitation counseling and my master's degree from The University of Texas A&M- Kingsville in counseling. I have been practicing and researching within the field for over 12 years now. I was influenced by my own experiences in life, school, professionalism, and therapy. I have worked to dispel the stigma and negative perceptions held within the culturally diverse communities. My focus has been working with an array of individuals who struggle with all types of difficulties in life. I work with an array of difficulties in anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, borderline personality disorder, stress, burnout, relational issues, environmental stressors, and so forth. I provide my clients with help in changing negative cognitive thought patterns, developing healthy coping skills, building healthy relationships, reducing stress, and prevent burnout. I have worked in array of settings such as hospitals, clinics, non-profit organizations, and mental health startups. I reside in the city of Mission, Texas. Guiding and helping others has always been a passion and fulfillment in my life.

My approach to therapy

When it comes to therapy, I believe there is no single “approach to therapy,” but rather many different approaches one can use to reach the ideal goal of obtaining a balanced and healthy headspace. The different therapeutic approached I have experience in are Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Psychodynamic Therapy, Humanistic Therapy, Systemic Therapy, Art Therapy, Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy, Behavioral Therapy, Person-Centered Therapy, Family Therapy, Exposure Therapy, and Group Therapy. I believe there is not just one way to reach the potential of rehabilitation of the mind, but rather open to many different ways and open to any other approaches my client would be open to as well.

What you can expect from me

A client can expect the first session to be interpersonal and laid back. As your potential therapist my goals for the first session is to gather as much information as I can, build rapport and trust, as well as the client determining if I am the right fit for you as your therapist. Understanding and getting an idea of what are the main issues causing stress and anguish in your life take part in this first session. It will be the therapist hearing your issues and concerns and making a plan in how we can tackle them together to get you to a better place in life and your mental health.
