Great to meet you!

My name is Stephanie Garris, I'm a licensed psychotherapist specializing in OCD, anxiety, childhood trauma recovery. I have training in Internal Family Systems, Exposure and Response Prevention and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I have been working in mental health since 2017 and have been in private practice since 2020. I love working with people, am outgoing, and enjoy helping others reach their goals.

My approach to therapy

I take a practical approach helping client learn to rationalize, get in touch with their "inner adult", identify and work through triggers, and build frustration tolerance which helps when dealing with overwhelming feelings at times. I recognize the importance of feeling the feeling, processing and eventually finding meaning that helps the person move forward in their life.

What you can expect from me

I believe in working in steps, small steps, no matter how tiny, add up. Practice helps a person get stronger, more experienced, and the brain's "software" changes in time with practice, patience and effort. I believe it's best the client sets their goals and I help them get there. I am humorous, warm and open minded and believe in a strong therapeutic bond for therapy to be effective rather than just interventions.
