Great to meet you!

Stephanie Harvey, MSW, LISW-S, LICDC-CS, is a highly experienced, independently licensed mental health and chemical dependency professional with more than 20 years of experience serving individuals, families, and communities throughout the Dayton area.

Throughout her career, Stephanie has worked in a wide range of behavioral health settings, including outpatient treatment, substance use disorder programs, correctional mental health, psychiatric hospitals, crisis services, and community-based treatment. Her clinical experience includes working with individuals experiencing substance use disorders, depression, anxiety, trauma, emotional distress, and mental health crises. She has provided individual and family therapy, facilitated educational and therapeutic groups, completed comprehensive assessments, developed individualized treatment plans, provided crisis intervention, and connected clients with appropriate community resources.

Stephanie is also committed to mentoring and professional development, having provided supervision, guidance, and support to students and interns from local colleges. She brings a strong work ethic, dependability, clinical expertise, compassion, and a collaborative approach to every professional setting.

She earned her Master of Social Work with a concentration in Mental Health and Chemical Dependency from the University of Cincinnati and her Bachelors in Sociology from the University of Michigan.

Stephanie is passionate about helping individuals recognize their strengths, develop healthier coping skills, overcome barriers to recovery, and create meaningful and sustainable changes in their lives. She believes that effective behavioral health care begins with meeting people where they are while helping them move toward greater stability, independence, and hope.

My approach to therapy

Stephanie uses a person-centered, strengths-based, and collaborative approach to therapy. She believes meaningful change begins with meeting clients where they are, understanding their individual experiences and challenges, and building upon the strengths they already possess.

With more than 20 years of experience across mental health, substance use, crisis, and community-based settings, Stephanie tailors treatment to each client's unique needs and goals. Her work focuses on helping clients develop healthier coping skills, increase emotional stability, overcome barriers to recovery, and make practical, sustainable changes in their lives.

Stephanie creates a supportive and nonjudgmental therapeutic environment where clients can openly explore concerns related to depression, anxiety, trauma, substance use, emotional distress, life challenges, and recovery. She works alongside clients to identify achievable goals and develop strategies that promote greater independence, resilience, stability, and hope.

When appropriate, Stephanie also incorporates family involvement, psychoeducation, community resources, and care coordination to support the client's overall treatment and long-term well-being.

What you can expect from me

Clients can expect their first session with Stephanie to be a welcoming, supportive, and judgment-free conversation focused on getting to know them and understanding what brings them to therapy. She will take time to learn about their current concerns, personal history, strengths, support system, and goals for treatment.

Together, Stephanie and the client will begin identifying priorities and developing an individualized plan for moving forward. Clients are encouraged to ask questions, share at their own pace, and be actively involved in determining what they would like to accomplish through therapy.

Stephanie's goal for the first session is for clients to leave feeling heard, respected, and hopeful about the next steps in their care.
