Great to meet you!

Hi, I'm Stephanie Kapral, a licensed psychologist in Corning, NY. I work with adult, adolescent, and child clients with a wide range of difficulties, including anxiety and stress, depression, relationship issues, trauma, mood disorders, life transitions, interpersonal effectiveness, ADHD, and ASD. I've been in private practice since 2004 and strongly believe it's a privilege to help people navigate the challenges, transitions, and uncertainties that are part of being human! My goal is to provide exceptional psychological service in a manner that is collaborative and person-centered.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is both compassionate and challenging. I aim to offer more than a listening ear: I ask thoughtful questions, encourage honest self-reflection, and work collaboratively with clients to create meaningful, lasting change. Together, we explore the ways our relationships, thoughts, emotions, and behaviors interact and shape our lives, with the goal of helping each person better understand themselves, move through obstacles, and unlock their potential. My theoretical orientation draws from several current and research-informed models that include Cognitive Behavioral (CBT), Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT), Psychodynamic, and Acceptance and Commitment (ACT). I use these frameworks flexibly, tailoring treatment to the individual rather than expecting every client to fit a particular framework.

What you can expect from me

I strive to create a warm, friendly, and relaxed environment where we can do a lot of great work together. It takes courage to seek therapy! Clients should feel comfortable as it sets the stage for the impactful work that results in positive change. If you or a loved one is seeking experienced, inclusive, and non-judgemental psychological care, I invite you to take that first step and reach out.
