Great to meet you!

I'm Stephen May, PMHNP-BC, a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. I combine traditional psychiatry with functional and integrative medicine to offer personalized, whole-person care. My goal is to help individuals uncover and address the root causes of their mental health challenges so they can build lasting emotional balance and resilience.

My approach is grounded in evidence-based practices and shaped by a holistic philosophy. I integrate medication management, nutritional psychiatry, advanced lab testing, lifestyle changes, and mind-body therapies. I believe in a collaborative and empowering process—one that honors your unique biology, story, and goals.

I work with people facing a wide range of concerns, including anxiety, depression, trauma, ADHD, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, eating disorders, and more. Whether through conventional treatment or functional assessments exploring gut-brain health, hormonal balance, inflammation, or nutrient deficiencies, my focus is on restoring harmony across your physical, mental, and emotional systems.

Outside of clinical work, I’m committed to continuing education in integrative psychiatry, neuroscience, and personalized nutrition to better serve those I work with.

My approach to therapy

I take a holistic approach to mental health care that blends evidence-based traditional medicine with integrative practices. This means I consider the whole person—mind, body, and environment—when developing a treatment plan. While I utilize standard psychiatric tools such as medication and psychotherapy, I also explore root causes through nutrition, lifestyle, and functional lab testing when appropriate. My goal is to support each client’s unique healing journey with personalized care that fosters balance, resilience, and long-term well-being.

What you can expect from me

In our sessions, you’ll gain practical tools, deeper self-awareness, and a personalized plan tailored to your mental, physical, and emotional well-being. I combine traditional treatments with integrative approaches to support lasting, whole-person healing.
