Great to meet you!

Anxiety, depression, fear, anger, grief... everyone will experience them, but they don’t have to define you or determine your future. If you are here, something in your life needs to change, and I can help. My name is Stephen Schill, and I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with 19 years of experience helping others examine, understand, and overcome thoughts, behaviors, and emotions that might be holding them back from the lives they want to live. Therapy with me is rooted in God’s truth as revealed by Jesus Christ. I combine my depth and breadth of clinical expertise with the powerful healing and hope that comes from Christ to help my clients experience victory over the challenges of life.

I have experience helping adults of all ages, life stages, backgrounds, and situations overcome anxiety, depression, anger, grief, and PTSD, including over 7 years treating veterans. I’m skilled in helping people navigate relationships, change, hurt, and questions of purpose and faith.

My approach to therapy

Therapy is a partnership between the therapist and the client – we’ll work together using mutual trust and transparency. In our sessions, I’ll listen, ask questions, and guide an exploration of your thoughts, feelings, and experiences to help us both understand where you’re coming from and where you need to go. Our sessions are tailored to your needs – no cookie cutter programs. Therapy is your time to express yourself, reflect on your thoughts and feelings, recenter on God’s truth, and set goals. I’m here to help you.

The way we think about ourselves, others, God, and life’s ups and downs has a major influence on how we experience our journey through this world. Together, we’ll look at behavioral and thought patterns - unhelpful ruts in the road - that might be holding you back. We’ll use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Solutions-Focused techniques within the context of Biblical truth to support you as a whole person – mind, body, and spirit – equipping you to shape your thoughts and emotions, build resiliency, foster your faith, and live a flourishing life.

What you can expect from me

Sessions will involve me doing a lot of listening – who you are, what’s been going on in your life, and what your immediate needs and concerns are. You’re taking a leap of faith in opening up and seeking help; I will honor the trust you’ve put in me by giving you a supportive and open space in which you can feel comfortable taking your first steps into the therapeutic process.
