Great to meet you!

Hi, I’m Stephen — a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who specializes in Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFT). In simple terms, I help people talk about what’s really going on underneath the arguments about dishes, text messages, or who left the socks on the floor (again).

My belief in this work runs deep. Years ago, my wife and I went through the EFT process ourselves — and it completely changed our relationship. We came out of it not just as a stronger couple, but as better human beings for each other and for our children. That experience shaped everything about how I show up as a therapist today.

I know firsthand that building and maintaining connection takes courage, vulnerability, and sometimes a sense of humor. I help couples, individuals, and families slow down, understand their emotional patterns, and create the kind of secure, supportive bonds that last.

My style is warm, down-to-earth, and collaborative. I believe in doing deep emotional work — but I also believe in laughing when we need to, because connection isn’t always serious business.

If you’re ready to do the work (and maybe smile through it once in a while), I’m here to help you strengthen your bond and reconnect with what matters most.

My approach to therapy

My approach is rooted in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) — a model that helps people understand the deeper emotions and needs driving their patterns with each other. Whether you’re part of a couple, a family, or working on your own growth, I focus on creating safety and slowing things down so you can make sense of what’s really happening beneath the surface.

I don’t believe therapy is about “fixing” people — it’s about helping people feel seen, heard, and connected. When we can make sense of our emotions and express them in ways that bring us closer instead of pushing us apart, relationships begin to heal and grow naturally.

I bring warmth, curiosity, and a little humor into the room because real change happens when therapy feels safe and human. Sometimes we’ll go deep; other times we might laugh at how wild this thing called life can be. Either way, my goal is to help you build stronger emotional bonds — with yourself, your partner, and the people you love most.

What you can expect from me

First sessions can feel a little nerve-wracking — and that’s completely normal. My goal is to make you feel comfortable from the start. Think of our first meeting as a conversation, not an interrogation. You don’t have to have everything figured out or know exactly what to say — that’s my job to help with.

We’ll start by getting to know each other and talking about what brought you to therapy. I’ll ask some questions about your life, relationships, and what’s been feeling challenging lately, but we’ll move at your pace. For couples, we’ll begin exploring your relationship patterns — those moments where you keep getting stuck or missing each other — without blame or judgment.

You can expect warmth, curiosity, and maybe a little humor. My goal isn’t to “fix” you; it’s to understand you — and help you and your partner (or family) start to feel more connected, understood, and hopeful.

By the end of our first session, most clients leave feeling a bit lighter — like they’ve started to make sense of what’s been happening and have a clearer picture of where we’re headed. From there, we’ll collaborate on a plan that fits your goals and keeps therapy feeling meaningful and productive.
