Great to meet you!

When people keep trying the same approaches, they generally get the same results. This is a big part of why I often utilize less conventional approaches, to help you get the results that you really want, which you may not have gotten in previous therapeutic experiences. I treat a range of mental health issues-- including anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, trauma, developmental disorders (e.g., ADHD, autism), and personality disorder-- but, above all, I always treat you as an individual, not as your diagnoses. I look forward to collaborating with you to develop an approach that is tailored to your needs.

My approach to therapy

Most therapists use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). While I have been trained in CBT, I prefer to use Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), a fun, mindfulness-based approach, which I supplement with Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills. I also make regular use of Schema Therapy to help you develop insight about the unconscious thoughts and feelings that are driving your behaviors. This combination of therapies enables us to build skills that address day-to-day problems while also identifying the deeper issues that are driving them. I'm also trained in various therapies for treating trauma (e.g., Narrative Exposure Therapy, Prolonged Exposure Therapy, Internal Family Systems), which enables me to tailor my approach to the individual's needs. Finally, through my many years as a personnel consultant, I have strong competencies in mid-career challenges and, more broadly, in mid-life transitions.

What you can expect from me

You will not only take away useful skills and insights, but also a sense that therapy is really going somewhere. You will feel that you are on the road to recovery. Equally importantly, you will feel that I have heard you and care about your challenges. You will know that you are a full collaborator in in your therapy and that you have a therapist who is fighting for you.
