Great to meet you!

I'm Steven, a clinical social worker providing therapy to a diverse group of adolescents and adults all throughout New York State. Many patients describe my therapeutic style as inviting, comforting, and analytic. I provide a compassionate space to share your rich history, explore your relationships, confront anxiety and trauma, and lead a more meaningful life. The first step to overcoming our pain is to speak it to a receptive listener. To begin therapy is to align with the part of you that wants to change for the better.

My approach to therapy

I work with my patients psychodynamically, which places great emphasis on the healing power of the therapeutic alliance and aims to explore private desires and unspoken pain. When our deepest desires go unfulfilled and our struggles are kept private we find ourselves depressed, angry, and disconnected from life-sustaining experiences. This form of therapy works best for overcoming repetitive life-patterns, increasing your ability to connect with yourself and others, rejuvenating creativity, and disarming overwhelming emotions.

What you can expect from me

Therapy is feeling work; knowledge is not what cures. Healing is found where a feeling is heard. I invite you to approach therapy with a sense of curiosity for the person you are and the person you aim to become. Ask yourself as you begin this journey: who would I be if I felt free from all that weighs me down?
