Great to meet you!

I've been doing this work for over 11 years, and my path here has been anything but traditional. I earned my degree while traveling the world, which gave me a real appreciation for different perspectives and ways of being human. I'm also a personal trainer and ultra-marathon runner, and I bring that same philosophy of building resilience to my therapy work. I didn't go to therapy to make my external world easier, I went to make my internal world more resilient. That's what I'm here to help you do too. Research shows time and time again that outcome is dictated by the relationship built between therapist and client, not by the modality. So my main focus is: are we good with each other? Because if we're not, it doesn't matter what approach I'm using.

My approach to therapy

I'm trained in a variety of modalities like CBT and DBT, but honestly, I'm less interested in rigid adherence to any one approach and more focused on what actually works for you. Positive mental health does not mean constant happiness, and I think that's something people look for when they come to therapy. But that's not what humans are. My work is about helping you develop resiliency to lean into difficult times, feel shitty, and be able to say to yourself, "I'll get through this, I'll be happy again." Of course, we want to be happy all the time, nobody wants to feel bad! But it's okay to feel it. That's where the growth happens.

What you can expect from me

I'll be transparent with you - the first session involves a biopsychosocial assessment for insurance purposes, and this is going to be the most boring part of your experience with me. But I also want to know: Have you had therapists before? And if so, what did you like and not like about them? That helps me understand what you're looking for and whether we're a good fit. I'm not here to eliminate hardship from your life, I'm here to help you get through it. Will you get through it with a smile on your face the whole time? Probably not, that would be weird. However, you will develop skills that build your own resilience so no matter when or where hard times come, you will come out on the other side stronger.
