Great to meet you!

Hello, I’m Sumer Jarvis, LMSW/LISW-CP.

I believe reaching out for support can be an important step toward creating meaningful change, and my goal is to provide a warm, compassionate, and nonjudgmental space where you can feel comfortable being yourself.

I work with adults who may be experiencing depression, anxiety, stress, grief, loss, trauma, or significant life changes. Sometimes life can feel overwhelming, and you may find yourself struggling with thoughts, emotions, or patterns that are difficult to manage on your own. You don’t have to have everything figured out before beginning therapy. We can start wherever you are.

My approach is collaborative and individualized to each person. I incorporate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients explore the connection between their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors, identify patterns that may be contributing to distress, and develop practical strategies for moving forward. At the same time, I believe therapy is about more than techniques—it is also about having a safe and supportive relationship where you feel heard, respected, and understood.

Whether you are navigating a difficult transition, coping with a loss, feeling overwhelmed by anxiety or stress, or simply recognizing that something in your life needs to change, I would be honored to support you through that process.

My hope is that our work together helps you better understand yourself, recognize your strengths, develop healthier ways of coping, and feel more confident navigating whatever comes next.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is warm, compassionate, and collaborative. I believe that each person brings their own experiences, strengths, and needs into therapy, so I work to create a safe, nonjudgmental space where clients feel heard, respected, and comfortable being themselves.

I primarily use a Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) approach, helping clients understand how their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors can influence one another. Together, we can identify patterns that may be contributing to anxiety, stress, or emotional distress and develop practical strategies for creating meaningful change.

I also believe therapy should be individualized rather than one-size-fits-all. I meet clients where they are, work at a pace that feels comfortable, and focus on the concerns and goals that are most important to them. My role is not to tell you how to live your life, but to help you better understand yourself, recognize your strengths, develop healthier ways of coping, and feel more confident moving forward.

What you can expect from me

In our first session, my priority is helping you feel comfortable, heard, and respected. We’ll spend some time getting to know one another and talking about what brought you to therapy, what you’ve been experiencing, and what you hope to gain from our work together.

I’ll ask questions to better understand your concerns, experiences, strengths, and current needs, but you are always welcome to share at a pace that feels comfortable for you. You do not have to tell your entire story in the first session.

We’ll also begin discussing your goals for therapy and what you would like to see change or improve in your life. I’ll explain how I approach therapy, answer any questions you may have, and together we can begin developing a plan that feels realistic and meaningful to you.

Most importantly, the first session is an opportunity for us to begin building a trusting therapeutic relationship and for you to decide whether you feel comfortable working with me.
