Great to meet you!

Growing up in India, I developed a keen interest in mental health especially as it

connected with gender & sexuality issues. I have experience working at the intersection of gender justice & mental health in nonprofit organizations. I then took my passion international & came to NYC to earn an MA and EdM in Psychological Counseling from Teachers College at Columbia University. And I also started & co-facilitate a support group for individuals identifying on the asexual and/or aromantic spectrum.

A bit about my approach to therapy

I believe in helping to make mental healthcare more accessible to marginalized populations, especially sexual and gender minorities and folx of color; communities who have often needed the most care because of the deep impact of discrimination and marginalization but have had the least access to it. I utilize an integrative lens, tailoring the approach to what suits clients best, while collaborating with them. My foundations often include a multicultural, feminist, and relational perspective.

What you can expect from our first session

I see therapy as a collaborative process, where the client is the expert in their own experience, and my role is to guide clients’ exploration and to create a safe and comfortable environment to do so. I have experience working with folx with a history of trauma, especially sexual and gender-based violence, depression, anxiety, as well as identity issues, communication barriers, and relationship issues.
