Great to meet you!

After a biology degree, an MA in Scientific & Technical Communication, a career as a writer, time at home with my kids, and experience on a suicide hotline, I earned an MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the Ohio State University. I’ve been in private practice, helping people with relationship, family, and parenting issues; pregnancy and birth-related stress and trauma; coping with ADHD; stress and anger management; and healing from trauma ranging from a difficult childhood to acute traumatic experiences.

My approach to therapy

Every client is valuable and deserves respect. Diversity is natural, beneficial, and enjoyable. Humans are thoughts, feelings, and bodies. My mission is to help people know themselves better and become more of who they are meant to be. My particular passion is facilitating healing from developmental trauma, chronic stress, or traumatic events. You determine what you want to work on in therapy. I'm the resource person and facilitator.

What you can expect from me

During a consultation I can answer questions and concerns, and describe the treatment modalities I would use with your goals. At the first session, we'll build on the intake paperwork and assessments, and get a good image of your symptoms, goals, current situation, and where you'd like to be. I'll begin to gather a thorough history of relevant parts of your life. Then I'll make a treatment plan which you can review.
