Susan Jacoby

Hi, I am Susan. I am a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with more than 30 years of experience in psychiatry, caring for adults with a wide range of mental health needs. I earned my BSN from Skidmore College, my MSN from Fairfield University, and I also completed training in Behavioral Sleep Medicine and adult sleep disorders at the University of Pennsylvania. Over the years, I have supported adults living with mood disorders, bipolar disorder, OCD, and ADHD, and I have also worked closely with parents and caregivers of children and adult children with special needs.

My approach to care is collaborative, compassionate, and centered around you as a whole person. I want you to feel heard, respected, and comfortable being an active part of your treatment, because I believe the best care happens through partnership. I bring strong expertise in medication management, with a focus on safety, effectiveness, and making thoughtful decisions together. Above all, I try to create a warm and supportive space where we can work toward meaningful progress at your pace.

In our first sessions, my goal is to get to know you in a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental space. We will talk through what brought you in, your current symptoms, your psychiatric and medical history, past treatments, and any medications you are taking now. I may also use a few standardized screening tools to help guide the evaluation. From there, we will discuss my impressions, review treatment options, and begin building a plan that feels personalized, practical, and grounded in your needs.
