Great to meet you!

Hi, I'm Susan. I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor in Virginia with many years of experience helping adults navigate life's challenges. I work with individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, grief, life transitions, trauma, and parenting concerns.

Parenting can be incredibly rewarding, but it can also feel overwhelming at times. Whether you're adjusting to a new stage of parenting, feeling emotionally exhausted, struggling with your child's behavior, or trying to balance caring for others while taking care of yourself, therapy can provide a supportive place to process what you're experiencing and develop practical ways to move forward.

I earned my Master's Degree in Counseling Psychology and continue to expand my training through approaches such as Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Internal Family Systems (IFS). My goal is to create a safe, compassionate environment where you feel heard, understood, and supported as you work toward meaningful change.

My approach to therapy

I believe that every person's story is unique, so I tailor therapy to meet your individual needs and goals. My approach is warm, collaborative, and focused on helping you better understand yourself while building the skills and confidence to navigate life's challenges.

Depending on your needs, I integrate evidence-based approaches including Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), EMDR, and Internal Family Systems (IFS). Together, we'll work to identify patterns that may be keeping you stuck, process difficult experiences, strengthen your relationships, and develop healthier ways of coping.

Whether you're feeling overwhelmed, struggling with parenting, grieving a loss, or working through past experiences, we'll move at a pace that feels comfortable for you while focusing on the goals that matter most.

What you can expect from me

Our first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other. I'll spend time learning about what brought you to therapy, the challenges you're currently facing, and what you hope to accomplish through counseling.

You'll have the opportunity to share your story in a supportive, nonjudgmental space, and we'll discuss your goals and begin creating a plan that feels right for you. There is no pressure to share everything during the first session—we'll move at a pace that feels comfortable.

By the end of our first meeting, you'll have a better understanding of how we'll work together and the next steps toward helping you feel more confident, supported, and equipped to manage life's challenges
