Great to meet you!

I am a PhD level Clinical Social Worker and have been providing counseling to individuals, couples, and families for over 30 years. I see therapy as a shared journey and strive to create a warm, collaborative atmosphere. Some areas of specialization include mood and anxiety disorders, relationship issues, faith crises, and abuse/trauma.

My approach to therapy

My clients have described me as energetic, warm, and collaborative. I believe in tailoring treatment to the needs and preferences of the client. So, depending on the client, I may use one or more of the following widely used evidence-based treatment approaches: Acceptance and Commitment (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). I also use Existential, Relational, Gestalt and other therapeutic strategies.

What you can expect from me

I invite all prospective clients to participate with me in an initial phone consultation. This gives each of us the opportunity to determine if we could work effectively together to achieve the clients' goals. If we agree to move forward, an initial session is scheduled. The focus of this session is largely sharing expectations for therapy, discussing confidentiality and exceptions to confidentiality, and identifying the client's goals, i.e. what they want to accomplish in our work together.
