Great to meet you!

I'm Susan Msoma, a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with experience caring for children, adolescents, and adults across a variety of psychiatric settings. I believe mental health care should be personal, thoughtful, and centered around understanding the whole person not just treating symptoms.

I take a different approach by providing comprehensive evaluations, taking time to understand your story, and creating treatment plans tailored to your unique needs. When clinically appropriate, I also incorporate laboratory testing to evaluate potential biological contributors—such as nutrient deficiencies, hormonal imbalances, or inflammation that may be affecting your mental health.

Whether you're struggling with anxiety, depression, ADHD, bipolar disorder, trauma, OCD, insomnia, or another mental health concern, my goal is to help you gain clarity, feel understood, and develop a path toward lasting wellness. Every individual deserves compassionate, evidence-based care in an environment where they feel safe, heard, and respected.

My approach to therapy

My approach is collaborative, evidence-based, and individualized. I believe successful treatment begins with listening. Rather than focusing solely on a diagnosis or medication, I take the time to understand your symptoms, medical history, lifestyle, relationships, stressors, and personal goals to develop a treatment plan that truly fits you.

Treatment may include medication management, supportive psychotherapy, psychoeducation, lifestyle recommendations, and, when clinically indicated, laboratory testing to identify underlying factors that may be contributing to your symptoms. I believe in prescribing thoughtfully using the lowest effective dose whenever appropriate and making medication changes carefully rather than rushing the process.

Healing isn't a one-size-fits-all process. I work alongside with my clients to create realistic, sustainable treatment plans while collaborating with therapists, primary care providers, and other specialists when appropriate. My goal is not simply to reduce symptoms, but to help you build resilience & to improve your daily functioning.

What you can expect from me

Your first appointment is designed to help us build a strong foundation for your care. You'll have the opportunity to share your story in a supportive, judgment-free environment where you can feel comfortable being yourself.

Together, we'll discuss your current concerns, mental health history, medical history, medications, lifestyle, sleep, stress, and any factors that may be influencing your emotional well-being. We'll also review your goals and what you hope to achieve through treatment.

By the end of our first session, you'll leave with a clearer understanding of your symptoms, an initial treatment plan tailored to your needs, and a roadmap for moving forward. Whether that includes medication, therapy recommendations, lifestyle strategies, additional assessments, or laboratory testing when clinically appropriate, my goal is for you to feel heard, supported, and confident that you have a provider who is invested in your long-term well-being.
