Great to meet you!

I am a licensed mental health counselor residing in Florida. I am originally from Cuba, having immigrated to the US at the age of 18. My journey in the field of mental health began at the age of 21, when I took my first job as what they called then a "behavioral tech". It's been over 20 years now and I have not stepped out of this field since then. This work has increased my trust in our ability to heal, grow and live meaningful lives.

A bit about my approach to therapy

I specialize in Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and use other mindfulness-based practices to help you increase your quality of life. Evidenced based treatment approaches include Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and DBT, along with Narrative Therapy and EDIT (Eating Disorder Intuitive Eating). I provide all care with a diversity framework, as I am passionate about getting to help you based on your individual identity, your unique challenges and resources.

What you can expect from our first session

Do you often feel overwhelmed and know something needs to change, but you are not sure where to begin? Do you often attend counseling to manage a crisis and then you leave when the crisis has been managed, just to find yourself in emotional chaos again? I want to build a therapeutic relationship in which your life is not stuck on your past or overwhelmed with what is next. I would like to help you live a life that is congruent with your goals for a live worth living today.
