Great to meet you!

I’m Susye, and I know how hard it can be when your life looks successful from the outside, but something inside no longer feels right.

That feeling may show up as anxiety, difficulty in a relationship, uncertainty about your career, or a sense that you keep returning to the same patterns despite your efforts to change. You may recognize what isn’t working without fully understanding why. We can begin there.

I bring more than a decade of clinical work and training to my practice, along with a depth of life experience (including a 15-year career as a photojournalist before becoming a therapist). This background shapes how I listen, what I notice, and how I understand the complexities of adult life.

In our sessions, I’ll be with you in the work—listening closely, asking questions that get beneath the surface, and sharing what I notice so you can see yourself and your patterns more clearly. Humor is a cornerstone of my approach—not as a way of minimizing what’s difficult, but as a source of connection, perspective, and room to breathe.

Our work will go beyond easing the immediate problem. Together, we’ll understand what’s beneath the struggle and change the patterns that keep you stuck, so you have more freedom in the choices you make and in how you relate to yourself and others.

My approach to therapy

My approach is primarily psychodynamic and insight-oriented, which means we'll look beyond immediate symptoms to understand the patterns shaping your emotions, relationships, work, and decisions.

I also draw from cognitive behavioral, narrative, positive psychology, and other approaches when they're useful. Therapy with me is collaborative and engaged. I won't simply sit back and listen; I'll ask questions, offer observations, and help you connect what you're experiencing now with the patterns that may be keeping you stuck.

Insight is most useful when it changes how you live. Our work is ultimately about helping you understand yourself more deeply so you can begin responding differently.

What you can expect from me

Our first session is a conversation about what brings you to therapy and what you would like to be different.

We'll talk about what's happening in your life now, what you've already tried, and any patterns or concerns that feel important. I'll ask questions to begin understanding the larger picture, and you'll have an opportunity to get a sense of how I work.

You don't need to arrive knowing exactly what's wrong or what needs to change. We can begin by figuring that out together.
