Great to meet you!

Starting therapy can feel overwhelming, but you don’t have to do it alone. My name is Suzanne Basco, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with over 10 years of experience working with adults navigating serious mental illnesses. I believe in creating a space where you feel heard, supported, and empowered to make meaningful changes. My approach is eclectic and person-centered, meaning I tailor our work to fit your unique needs. Whether you're navigating serious mental illness, dual diagnosis, trauma, anxiety, depression, or life transitions, I’m here to help.

My approach to therapy

I take a client-centered, collaborative approach to therapy, focusing on your unique needs and goals. My aim is to create a safe space where we can explore your challenges and work together to develop strategies that support your healing and growth. We'll focus on building coping skills, addressing patterns of thought or behavior, and helping you feel more in control of your emotional wellbeing. I may incorporate practices like mindfulness or self-compassion as needed to best support you. Your progress is my priority, and together we’ll work toward creating lasting change, one step at a time.

What you can expect from me

Our first session is all about getting to know you and learning about your story in a way that feels comfortable for you. It’s not about diving into deep or difficult topics right away—it's about establishing a pace that feels right for you and ensuring you’re comfortable. You’ll have the space to ask me any questions and express any concerns, as I want you to feel confident and at ease when showing up for future sessions. My goal is to build a trusting relationship, soothe any fears you may have about the therapeutic journey, and lay the foundation for our work together at a pace that feels safe for you.

In our future work together, I view therapy as a partnership where you, the client, are the expert when it comes to your goals and experiences. We’ll collaborate to identify what matters most to you, whether it's improving relationships, managing stress, or navigating life transitions. As you progress and gain insights, your goals may evolve, and that's perfectly okay. I’m here to support you as those goals shift, adapting our approach to always reflect what’s most important to you. My role is to provide you with the tools, strategies, and encouragement you need to take meaningful steps forward, even when it feels difficult or uncertain.
