Great to meet you!

Whether this is your first time in treatment or you are returning, I am happy that you are taking this important step towards self care.

I have been a therapist for over 25 years, both in the private outpatient setting as well as in community mental health and in home family/individual therapy. I grew up in North Carolina and graduated in 1989 with an undergraduate degree in Psychology. I graduated in 1993 with my Masters of Education in Clinical Counseling from the The Citadel-Military College of South Carolina. For my licensure as a professional counselor, I was trained in community mental health and in home therapy. I have been licensed in Virginia, Texas and now Georgia.

I accept adolescents from ages 12 and up, as well as adults. I am knowledgeable in areas of anxiety, depression/mood disorders, relationship issues between parent and child, ADHD, anger mgmt, PTSD, grief, and trauma.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is supportive, participatory, challenging and empowering. I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Family Systems, Psychodynamic Therapy and Rational Emotive Therapy. I strongly believe that in order to change the way you feel and behave/act, you must first change your thoughts.

What you can expect from me

Our first session together will be information gathering of past mental health treatment and current issues, getting to know each other, goal setting for your treatment with me, and answering any questions you might have about the therapy process and/or my training and background.
