Great to meet you!

Welcome to My Practice

My name is Syd Davidson, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and Licensed Clinical Addictions Counselor (LCAC). I earned my Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and Human Development, followed by a Master of Social Work degree.

Outside of my professional work, I am an avid animal lover and firmly believe that pets are valued members of the family. Their intuition and ability to provide comfort can often be beneficial in the therapeutic process. Since I work from my home office, you may occasionally hear or see one of my pets during our sessions.

For more than 20 years, I have worked primarily with service members and veterans facing challenges such as depression, anxiety, relationship difficulties, sexual assault, post-traumatic stress, gender identity concerns, and a variety of other life issues. Prior to this work, I provided counseling to individuals from diverse backgrounds experiencing a broad range of concerns. While I am trained in multiple therapeutic modalities, I believe that effective therapy is not a one-size-fits-all process.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is straightforward, collaborative, and authentic. Sessions are tailored to each individual, utilizing the methods and interventions that best fit your unique needs and goals.

During our initial sessions, I will want to learn about you—your history, your concerns, and what you hope to gain from therapy. I also encourage you to consider what you are looking for in a therapist. Together, we will determine whether I am the right fit for you. A strong therapeutic relationship is essential because meaningful growth occurs when you feel comfortable, safe, and able to be open and honest.

What you can expect from me

My goal is to help you better understand the challenges you face, strengthen your coping skills, uncover the underlying factors contributing to your struggles, and support you in achieving meaningful and lasting change.

It is completely normal to feel nervous before a first therapy session. In my experience, however, most people leave that first meeting feeling relieved, encouraged, and often surprised by how much better they feel after having the opportunity to talk openly.

One aspect that makes my practice unique is the breadth of experience I bring to my work. Over the years, I have worked with a wide variety of individuals and concerns, giving me a deep appreciation for the complexity of people's lives. I strive to balance empathy with honesty, offering direct feedback while maintaining a supportive and respectful environment. I also believe that humor has an important place in therapy and can help foster connection and perspective when appropriate.

When we begin working together, I see you as much more than a client. You are a person with your own story, strengths, challenges, and goals. Building a genuine therapeutic relationship is important to me, and I value the opportunity to walk alongside you as you navigate life's difficulties.

What I love most about my work is helping people discover just how resilient they truly are.
