Great to meet you!

Living with depression, anxiety, trauma, or a serious mental health condition can make everyday life feel overwhelming. You may be working through painful experiences, struggling with changes in your mood or sense of self, or trying to find stability while managing symptoms that feel difficult to control. I’m Sydney Goshorn, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), and I specialize in supporting adults navigating complex mental health challenges, including psychosis, PTSD, depression, anxiety, suicidal thoughts, and self-harm. I bring over seven years of experience working alongside people through difficult periods in their lives. I also have lived experience with mental healthcare and neurodivergence, which informs my understanding of the importance of feeling heard, respected, and accepted. I believe you are capable of growth and change, even when things feel especially difficult. My goal is to help you find relief, build on your strengths, and create a life that feels more manageable and meaningful.

My approach to therapy

You deserve care that recognizes your experiences, respects your autonomy, and meets you where you are. My approach is compassionate, person-centered, and collaborative. I believe you are the expert on your own life, and our work together should reflect your needs, values, priorities, and goals. I aim to create a space where you feel validated rather than judged and where we can openly explore the challenges you’re facing. Together, we’ll work to increase insight into your experiences, strengthen motivation for recovery, and develop practical strategies to improve daily functioning and manage symptoms. We can also focus on identifying personal goals, recognizing early signs of distress, and building skills that support stability and help reduce the risk of relapse. I value diversity, commitment, and collaboration, and I understand that recovery looks different for everyone. Our work will honor your individual path while helping you recognize your abilities, build resilience, and move toward greater confidence and life satisfaction.

What you can expect from me

Your first step into therapy doesn’t require you to have everything figured out. Whether you’re ready to begin or simply considering whether therapy might help, I want you to feel comfortable asking questions and exploring your options. I offer free 15-minute phone consultations so we can connect, discuss what you’re looking for, and determine whether we may be a good fit. In therapy, we’ll begin by talking about what brings you in, what you’ve been experiencing, and what you hope will change. Together, we’ll identify goals that feel meaningful and develop a plan that reflects your needs and circumstances. Sessions can provide space to process difficult experiences, understand symptoms, strengthen coping strategies, and work toward greater stability in daily life. We’ll move collaboratively, recognizing your progress and adjusting our focus as your needs evolve. My goal is for you to feel supported, respected, and empowered throughout the process.
