I received both my bachelors in Anthropology and my masters in Clinical Mental Health from the University of Northern Colorado (go Bears!). I also spent a year interning in the bereavement counseling center at Pathways Hospice, and before becoming a counselor I spent nearly ten years doing nursing social work for a long term care facility.
I firmly believe that clients have the answers already within themselves and they may just need some help detangling them. You can expect a warm, but direct approach to your issues. I want our sessions to feel more conversational than clinical, but don't be fooled! I will help to hold you accountable and gently ask what needs to be asked in order to help you reach your goals.
I want clients to leave sessions feeling both challenged to spark change and validated in their emotions. I have always felt that clients steer their own ships and it's my job to help set your sails!
