Great to meet you!

I'm Sylvia Stogner, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with more than 30 years of experience helping people through the hardest chapters of their lives. Over those decades, I've worked with children as young as school age, teenagers navigating identity and pressure, adults managing anxiety and grief, and seniors processing loss and change. What stays consistent is my approach: I show up as a real person, not a blank professional wall. I bring genuine curiosity, directness, and care to every session. I practice in Mississippi and Louisiana, offering both in-person and telehealth appointments — so geography doesn't have to be a barrier to getting support.

My approach to therapy

My primary framework is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy — a practical, evidence-based approach that looks at how your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors connect and reinforce each other. But I don't use it rigidly. Depending on what you bring in, I may integrate trauma-informed techniques, solution-focused strategies, or family systems thinking. I'm particularly skilled at helping clients untangle anxiety, manage anger, work through family conflict, and process traumatic experiences without re-traumatizing them. Therapy with me tends to feel like a real conversation — structured enough to make progress, flexible enough to follow what actually needs attention.

What you can expect from me

Your first session is mostly me getting to know you. I'll ask about what's brought you to therapy, a bit of your history, what you've tried before (if anything), and what you're hoping life looks like on the other side of this. I won't push you to share more than you're ready to, and I won't pretend I have all the answers in the first 50 minutes. What I will do is listen closely, reflect back what I'm hearing, and start helping you identify a direction. Most people leave the first session feeling lighter — not because the problem is solved, but because it's no longer only theirs to carry alone.
