Great to meet you!
My first name is Michaele, and it is pronounced Mekayla.
I am a clinical social worker, trained in marital and family therapy, as well as general therapy and behavioral medical (the treatment of stress related illness).
After I finished graduate school, I initially worked for a nonprofit that specialized in substance abuse. Several years later I was hired by a medical outpatient clinic to provide psychotherapy to patients. At that time I also began a two year program in marital and family therapy.
As I continued my career at the medical clinic, I eventually joined a behavioral medicine team. We provided group therapy for many conditions: stress, chronic pain, headaches, and insomnia. I learned a great deal about the mind/body connection, which lead me to enrolling in a mindfulness meditation course. That was in the mid 1990’s. I still practice mindfulness meditation and I teach it to my clients.
I also received training from the New England Society for Clinical Hypnosis.
