Great to meet you!

I’m Takisha Brooks, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and the founder of Intentional Relationship Therapy. I specialize in working with couples who love each other but have found themselves feeling more like roommates, co-parents, or partners managing life than a connected couple. I help couples and individuals navigate communication challenges, emotional disconnection, intimacy, parenting transitions, and the stress of everyday life. My goal is to help you understand what is happening in your relationship and create a relationship that feels intentional, connected, and sustainable.

My approach to therapy

My approach is warm, curious, and practical. I want to understand what is happening beneath the surface, not just focus on the argument that brought you in. Together, we’ll explore the patterns that keep you stuck while building healthier ways to communicate, repair, and reconnect. I believe both partners should feel heard and understood, while also being honest about what each person can do differently.

What you can expect from me

Whether you’re coming to therapy as a couple or on your own, your first session is about helping you feel seen, heard, and understood from the very beginning. I’ll take time to understand what brought you to therapy, what has been difficult, and what you hope can feel different. With couples, I want to understand both partners and the patterns happening between you. With individuals, we’ll make space for your own experiences, relationships, and the things you may be carrying on your own. You don’t have to perfectly explain what’s wrong or have all the answers. My goal is to help you make sense of what’s happening, identify what may be keeping you stuck, and leave feeling like you’ve finally found someone who truly sees you and knows how to help.
