Great to meet you!

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC, # 74531) in Texas. I earned my B.S. in Applied Learning & Development at the University of Texas in Austin. I earned my M.Ed. in College Student Affairs and a Ph.D. in Counselor Education & Supervision from Penn State University. I have clinical experience in women’s centers, career counseling, and higher education settings. I am also a professor of counseling and enjoy training future counselors.

My approach to therapy

I use person-centered, existential, and a depth counseling approach. My top priority is being non-judgemental with clients, which helps create a safe, person-centered, counseling space. Using an existential framework means that I often ask clients to reflect on the meaning and purpose within their lives. I also help clients explore aspects of their conscious and unconscious emotions to increase self-awareness and improve unhelpful psychological patterns.

What you can expect from me

Sometimes the most subtle of changes can be the most powerful, which is a concept at the heart of my counseling approach. While goals of counseling may include relief of challenging symptoms (e.g., feelings of uncertainty, anxiety) and adaptation of useful coping strategies, I also help clients navigate challenging life turning points to enhance in-depth healing and meaning in life.
