Beginning therapy can feel a little nerve-wracking, but the first session is really just a conversation to get to know each other. We'll talk about:
- What brought you in and what's been going on lately
- A bit of your background (only what you're comfortable sharing)
- What you're hoping to get out of therapy---even if you're not totally sure yet
I'll also explain how I work, answer any questions you have, and go over things like confidentiality.
There's no pressure to share everything right away--you can go at your own pace. This is your space.
The first session is also a chance for you to see if I feel like a good fit. You're always welcome to ask me anything.
By the end, we'll usually have a loose idea of next steps, but nothing has to be perfectly figured out.
