Great to meet you!

As a marriage and family therapist, I believe we were not created to move through life alone. Often mental health issues and traumatic life experiences can get in the way of our ability to form and maintain healthy relationships. Seeking ways to improve yourself and or improve your relationship with others can be difficult so congratulations on taking this step! Over the last 20 years, I’ve worked with individuals from ages 3-65+, couples, and families. For the last two years, I’ve expanded my focus on caregivers and geriatric clients due to the challenges that come with aging. I am a graduate of Harding Graduate School of Religion in Memphis, TN. I use evidence-based treatments such as Cognitive Behavior Therapy and Solution Focused Therapy. There are times when components of Dialectical Behavior Therapy is used to help clients reach their goals.

My approach to therapy

Since everyone has a unique situation, treatment is individualized. You are the expert of your life. Once we decide to work together, I will help you create realistic and measurable goals. I will listen to you, validate your feelings, challenge your unhealthy thought process, help you increase insight into what’s happened to you or a loved one, and help you break negative behaviors or patterns that get in the way of you being your best you. During this time, we will practice healthy communication skills so that you will be able to form and maintain healthy relationships.

What you can expect from me

During the introductory session, you will have the opportunity to share your story and what you hope to gain from therapy. Together we will craft goals that are realistic and measurable. Based on what's happened to you we may complete an assessment to track your progress. I will create a safe space where you can be honest and open; transparent and vulnerable. It is an environment that is warm, compassionate, welcoming, and empowering.
