Great to meet you!

Hi! My name is Tamara Smith-Hart. I'm a Christian therapist. I'm a Licensed Clinical social worker who practices in the state of Pennsylvania. I have a Masters Degree in Social Work, a Bachelors in Psychology and I hold a professional clinical license ( LCSW). I have experience in providing therapeutic support for adolescents and adults who are facing some of life's most difficult challenges. I have worked in the mental health field for over 12 years and has worked in various settings which has allowed me to gain experience within different populations. I have a passion for helping others heal and have the ability to tailor my treatment approaches suitable to the clients needs.

Life happens. Though we cannot control what happens, we can control how we adapt, our attitude, our perspective and how we move forward. I create a safe place to allow you to process your pain and help lead you to the journey of becoming a better version of yourself.

I understand that building a therapeutic relationship is the first step in successful treatment. Having someone who is empathetic, relatable and compassionate are key components. My own experiences has led me to want to embark on the journey of supporting other women through their healing journey.

I work best with the young adult population. Clients who struggle with life transitions, anxiety, depression, self esteem issues, relationship stressors, healing from heartache, or those struggling in their Faith walk .

My approach to therapy

I'm extremely down to earth, I believe that building rapport with my clients paves the way for a successful therapeutic relationship. I'm able to relate to the young adult population which is something that my clients appreciate.

I like to use a strength based approach, motivational interviewing, CBT , Narrative therapy and Holistic. I typically have to tailor my approaches to fit the individual needs of the client.

I'm a Christian counselor primarily and like to incorporate biblical principals when appropriate.

What you can expect from me

Our first session will be a " get to know" . I will discuss my background and experience, ask intake questions ( past hx, meds, current stressors, ect), discuss the goal of therapy and answer any questions the client may have. I will discuss how I format the sessions, discuss confidentiality, safety and healthy boundaries . We will discuss surface level topics to give therapist some background information and discuss goals and what the course of treatment would entail moving forward.
